A cent is a hundredth of a semitone; most listeners hear 10 to 25 cents off as out of tune. Sing an open "ah" or "oo" and hold it steady. Headphones help, so the reference note doesn't reach the microphone (listening pauses while it plays anyway). Keys: Space plays the note, N gives a new one.
